Nationalpark Gesäuse in Styria is a great place to experience wild water and steep rock. This shot was taken from Hieflau at of epic Planspitze (2.117 m) part of the Hochtor group of mountains. 📍
January
Gamskarlspitze (2.833 m) is mountain located in the Gamskarlspitz group at the end of the Gastein Valley near Sportgastein the freeride wonderland. Winter afternoon photographed from Stubnerkogl. 📍
February
What makes the Schiederweiher near Hinterstoder so unique: From the lake with its crystal clear, turquoise water you have a spectacular view of the Spitzmauer (2.446 m) and the Großer Priel (2.515 m) - a fantastic picture, especially when the peaks rise reflected on the water surface. There are also the dark forests and green meadows that border directly on the Schiederweiher. No wonder that this natural gem is also known as the “Pearl of the Stodertal”. 📍
March
Lake Neusiedl in Netionalpark Neusiedlersee is the westernmost steppe lake in Europe and at the same time the largest lake in Austria. The total area of the lake, including the reed belt, today is about 320 km². From Weiden am See you can experience great sunsets like this. 📍
April
The “20 Schilling Blick” viewpoint can be reached via the railway hiking trail along the Semmering Railway, which has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The viewing area offers a special view of the 184 meter long and 46 meter high “Kalte Rinne” viaduct, which was shown on the back of the penultimate issue of the 20 Schilling banknote. 📍
June
View on the river Danube and the Nationalpark Donauen from Braunsberg (346 m) near Hainburg an der Donau. Might be a similar view Celtic settlers had 7.000 years ago. 📍
July
Sunset at Podersdorf at Lake Neusiedl. Podobeach is a two kilometer long beach and a great spot for a family beach day or water sports. 📍
August
In Torren, a district of Golling, the Gollinger Wasserfall roars into the valley. Its 76 meter drop makes it not only a spectacular sight, but also one of the highest waterfalls in Salzburg.📍
September
At the Gesäuse entrance, where the Enns flows between Himbeerstein and Haindlmauer finds its breakthrough, the only national park begins Styria with the roaring sound of the wild river. The limestone and dolomite rocks of the Hochtor group tower downstream from 600 to almost 2.370 meters vertically - a unique contrast.📍
October
The nature park community of Rechberg lies quietly and dreamily embedded in the hilly landscape of the lower Mühlviertel. Gentle terrain with a varied and unique natural and cultural landscape offers an idyllic setting for relaxation and recreation.📍
