Vienna Calling - Calendar 2022

This is the digital version of the Vienna Calling calendar 2022.

Calendar Title

Empty Rathausplatz in 2020 during lockdown. A rare opportunity for a picture. 📍

January

One of the more striking buildings at Stephansplatz is the Palais Equitable building which was designed and constructed for the Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States. 📍

February

The Old Danube in Vienna (Alte Donau) - here frozen - is a special kind of local recreation area, offering an attractive contrast between the adjacent cityscape and the idyll of this former branch of the Danube. 📍

March

Cherry blossom at the Vienna Peace Pagoda - this is a Buddhist stupa located on the Danube in Vienna. 📍

April

Setagayapark is a Japanese garden in Döbling and you can experience peace and harmony there. Spring and autumn are the best seasons to visit the garden.📍

May

DC Tower is 220 meters high (250 meters including the antenna) which makes it the tallest skyscraper in Austria. I edited the picture to give it a Miami Vice look.📍

June

Hotel Sacher is a five-star luxury hotel facing the Wiener Staatsoper. It is famous for the specialty of the house, the Sachertorte, a chocolate cake with apricot filling and in my opinion they have an awesome Schnitzel as well.📍

July

View from Albertina (left is Do&Co restaurant) to Wiener Staatsoper. Awesome spot to get a feeling about imperial Vienna in summer.📍

August

The Theseus-Tempel stands in the middle of the Volksgarten. This is a replica of the Theseion in Athens and was built to house Theseus and the Minotaur by Antonio Canova.📍

September

Special view over Prater from Neni im Prater. It is park for many, place of nostalgic dreams for some, oasis of greenery for almost everyone – and the location of the117m high Praterturm and the Giant Ferris Wheel, one of Vienna’s most famous symbols.📍

October

The church Maria vom Siege is a historicist building in the 15th district not far from the Westbahnhof station - picture from IKEA Westbahnhof terrace. It was designed by Friedrich Schmidt, the architect who has also designed the Rathaus city hall.📍

November

Lots of Christmas markets in Vienna have great settings and the Karlsplatz version is no exception, nestled in front of the imposing Karlskirche church.📍

December

The Peterskirche is a Baroque Roman Catholic church. The Peterskirche is located on Petersplatz, right next to Graben and largely obscured by the surrounding buildings, and can only be seen clearly from directly in front.📍
